- Compliance included (main value)
- Worth the price
Enterprise flag governance on a self-serve plan: SSO, audit logs, change approvals and EU data residency for $75 per seat, with users never billed.
Unleash bills by the people who use it, not by your traffic: client-side users and flag evaluations are never billed, and the cloud plan includes 53 million SDK requests a month. Every paid seat gets the full Enterprise feature set, including SAML or OIDC SSO, role-based access, change requests with four-eyes approval, audit logs kept up to 2 years and US or EU data residency. The core is open source, so teams can also run it on their own servers.
- Governance without an enterprise contractSSO with SAML 2.0 or OpenID Connect, role-based access with custom project roles, four-eyes approvals and audit logs with up to 2 years retention are marked on Pay-As-You-Go.Evidence: Pricing page (2026-10-15)
- Traffic is not the billThe FAQ says client-side MAU are unlimited and flag evaluations are never billed; backend SDKs cache the configuration and evaluate flags locally.Evidence: Pricing page FAQ (2026-10-15)
- EU data residency and SOC 2 Type IIThe plan table lists US or EU data residency and SOC 2 Type II on both plans; the compliance docs say the SOC 2 report is available on request.Evidence: Pricing page and compliance docs (2026-10-15)
- Best for
- Teams that want SSO, audit logs and change approvals for flags without an enterprise contract, and whose seat count is small next to their traffic.
- Good to know
- There is no hosted free plan: after a 14-day trial every seat costs $75 a month, so a team of 10 pays $750.

SSO and EU hosting need Enterprise, and the product now sits within Amplitude. | From its public pages, LaunchDarkly is the broadest platform here, with experiments on every plan and a long compliance list. Client-side users drive the bill, and SSO and audit logging are listed for Enterprise. | From its public pages, ConfigCat is the most focused flag service here, with the most team controls on its free plan. Its score reflects no built-in experimentation and a shorter compliance list. |

Review
Review from public pages
Written from Unleash's public pages (pricing, security or privacy, and docs) as read on Oct 15, 2026. We did not sign up, and no hands-on run is published yet.
What the public pages show
We read Unleash's pricing page and FAQ, its sign-up page and its docs on SDKs, the Frontend API, A/B testing, impact metrics, import and export, SSO and compliance on Oct 15, 2026; we did not sign up for this review. The pricing page has two plans for Unleash Enterprise: Pay-As-You-Go at $75 per seat per month, cloud-hosted or self-hosted, after a 14-day trial with no credit card, and a custom Enterprise contract. The FAQ says client-side MAU are unlimited and flag evaluations are never billed; the cloud plan includes 53 million API requests a month, then $5 per million.
Both plans carry the same feature set: SAML 2.0 or OpenID Connect SSO, role-based access, change requests with four-eyes approval, audit logs kept up to 2 years, US or EU data residency, and impact metrics with automated progression and safeguards that pause a rollout when a metric crosses a threshold. A/B testing works through flag variants and impression data that you send to your own analytics tool; Unleash does not compute the results itself.
Unleash Open Source is free to self-host with no seat limit, but the FAQ limits it to 1 project, 2 environments and 5,000 flags without SSO, SCIM, granular roles or change requests, and the docs recommend Enterprise for production. One detail differs between pages: the sign-up page bills self-hosted Pay-As-You-Go annually with a 5-seat minimum, while the pricing FAQ describes monthly billing with no contract.
Strengths
- Users and evaluations are not billed
The bill follows seats; client-side MAU are unlimited and flag evaluations are never metered.
vs LaunchDarkly: LaunchDarkly bills $8.33 per 1,000 client-side MAU on Foundation.
- Governance on the self-serve plan
SAML or OIDC SSO, role-based access, change requests with four-eyes approval and audit logs with up to 2 years retention are on Pay-As-You-Go.
vs LaunchDarkly: LaunchDarkly lists SSO and audit logging on Enterprise.
- EU data residency on every plan
The plan table lists data residency in the US or EU on both Pay-As-You-Go and Enterprise.
Compared: Statsig lists EU hosting on Enterprise.
- Rollout safeguards
Impact metrics, automated progression and safeguards can pause a rollout or disable an environment when a metric crosses a threshold.
- Open source and portable
The core is open source and self-hostable, the docs list OpenFeature providers, and flag configurations export and import between cloud and self-hosted instances.
Things to know
- No hosted free plan
Hosted Unleash starts with a 14-day trial, then $75 per seat a month; the free Open Source edition must be self-hosted and is limited to 1 project and 2 environments.
- Seats set the price
Every person who uses Unleash is a seat at $75 a month, so a team of 10 costs $750 a month.
- No built-in experiment analysis
The A/B testing guide sends impression data to your analytics tool to attribute outcomes to variants; Unleash does not analyse the results.
Workaround: Impact metrics can still watch aggregate error and product metrics during a rollout.
- Shorter certification list
The docs list SOC 2 Type II; for ISO 27001 and FedRAMP they offer control mappings rather than certifications, and we found no HIPAA BAA.
Pricing reality
Unleash bills per seat: $75 per seat per month on Pay-As-You-Go, by credit card, with a 1-seat minimum on cloud and 5 on self-hosted. A seat is a person who uses Unleash, not an end user. The cloud plan includes 53 million SDK requests a month, then $5 per million; Enterprise contracts are quoted.
For our scenario, 10 seats cost $750 a month. If each user’s browser sessions add up to 5 hours a month, the browser SDK’s default 30-second refresh and 60-second metrics make 50,000 × 5 × 180 = 45 million requests, and one backend instance per environment adds about 0.4 million, inside the 53 million (our arithmetic). Self-hosted Open Source has no licence fee but runs on your own infrastructure.
Exit path
The import and export docs move flag configurations between environments and instances, including between cloud and self-hosted; segments and custom strategies travel only as references. The core is open source, the SDK docs link their source on GitHub, and OpenFeature providers are documented, so flag checks can later point elsewhere.
Compared with
- Pick Unleash when
- You want SSO, audit logs and EU data residency without an Enterprise contract, and no billing by client-side users.
- Pick LaunchDarkly when
- You want built-in experiment analysis, a free hosted plan, or ISO 27001 in the vendor’s own name.
- Pick Unleash when
- You want EU data residency on a self-serve plan, rollout safeguards and 53 million requests a month included.
- Pick Flagsmith when
- You want a free hosted plan and a lower bill for a small team: $500 a month for 10 members, billed yearly.
Choose it if
- You want SSO, audit logs and change approvals without an enterprise contract.
- Your traffic is large next to your team size.
- You need EU data residency for flag data.
- You may want to self-host later.
Look elsewhere if
- You want a free hosted plan or built-in experiment analysis.
- You need a HIPAA BAA or ISO 27001 in the vendor’s own name.
Bottom line
From its public pages, Unleash puts enterprise governance on a self-serve plan and never bills for traffic. Its score reflects per-seat pricing with no hosted free plan and no built-in experiment analysis.
