What you're paying for

  • Easy to adopt (main value)
  • Built-in reach
  • Compliance included

A drag-and-drop business site with multilingual, bookings, payments and a broad compliance file, on one platform that grows with the plan.

Wix lets a small business build its site from a template or a prompt, then add tools from the same dashboard: a blog, forms, Wix Multilingual, site search, bookings, payments and an online store as the plan grows. Light ($17 a month on yearly billing in the US) covers the custom domain, removes Wix branding and allows 2 collaborators. Wix states its own SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001 and PCI DSS Level 1, and its DPA is part of the terms.

  • Business apps on the same planThe plan table lists scheduling, payments, ecommerce, memberships and pricing plans from Core ($29), with Wix Multilingual and Wix Site Search as apps that name no plan requirement.Evidence: Plans page comparison table and help center (2026-10-16)
  • Own audits and certificatesThe trust center lists SOC 2 Type 2, PCI DSS Level 1 and ISO 27001, 27017, 27018 and 27701, plus 2FA by email, SMS or app; HIPAA compliance is on Business and Business Elite.Evidence: Trust center security page and plans page (2026-10-16)
  • Collaborators and site history includedLight includes 2 site collaborators with custom roles, and the site history records every save and publish, with who made each change and a one-step restore.Evidence: Plans page and help center: site history, custom roles (2026-10-16)
Best for
Small businesses that want one platform for their site, bookings, payments and multilingual pages, with a compliance file a client may ask for.
Good to know
A Wix site runs only on Wix: the site and its blog posts cannot be exported to another platform.

Bottom lineFrom its public pages, Wix is the most complete all-in-one builder here: multilingual, collaborators and a broad compliance file from Light at $17 a month in the US, with selling from Core. The trade-off is lock-in: the site and its blog cannot be exported. From its public pages, WordPress.com is the lowest-cost route to a custom-domain site with a blog, at $4 a month billed yearly, with plugins, unlimited users and a portable export. Check the renewal price at checkout, and note that SOC 2 and ISO 27001 are not stated. From its public pages, Webflow is the designer’s builder here: a full CMS, site search, own SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, and a code export path. A blog starts on the $25 Premium plan, and extra editors are paid seats. From its public pages, Squarespace is the builder that sells from the first plan: products, services and memberships on Basic at $19 a month billed yearly, with fees that fall on higher plans. It states no SOC 2 or ISO 27001, and its export covers only part of a site.

Review

Review from public pages

Written from Wix's public pages (pricing, security or privacy, and docs) as read on Oct 16, 2026. We did not sign up, and no hands-on run is published yet.

What the public pages show

We read Wix's plans page with its comparison table, the trust center security page, the DPA for users, and help center articles on premium plan pricing, building a free site, the free domain voucher, refunds, CMS limits and export, Wix Multilingual, site search, password-protected pages, custom roles, site history, contacts export, site export and blog export on Oct 16, 2026; we did not sign up or publish a site for this review.

Wix sets prices by country. From our location the plans page said its dollar prices were for reference only, so we took the US prices from the page's own price table, which lists Light $17, Core $29, Business $39 and Business Elite $159 a month on yearly billing in the US, and checked them against the Internet Archive copy of the US page from Oct 7, 2026.

The plan table is detailed, but a few things sit elsewhere: the blog, multilingual and site search are separate apps, and the page shows only yearly prices although the refund article confirms monthly plans. The plan table lists 11 extensions for the free domain voucher, while the voucher article lists more than 30.

Strengths

  • Multilingual without an add-on fee

Wix Multilingual translates the site into other languages with a language menu, names no plan requirement and includes 3,000 free auto-translation words.

vs Squarespace: Webflow, Framer and Squarespace price extra languages as an add-on or a third-party integration.

  • Broad compliance file

SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001, 27017, 27018 and 27701, PCI DSS Level 1, 2FA and a DPA that is part of the terms; HIPAA compliance on Business.

vs WordPress.com: Squarespace and WordPress.com state neither SOC 2 nor ISO 27001 on the pages we read.

  • Two collaborators and a change history on Light

Light includes 2 site collaborators, custom roles can limit what each one does, and the site history shows who changed what and restores older versions.

vs Webflow: Webflow and Framer charge for a second editor seat.

  • 14-day money-back guarantee on yearly and monthly plans

New plans can be cancelled for a full refund within 14 days; domains are excluded.

Things to know

  • The site stays on Wix

The help center says a Wix site cannot be hosted elsewhere, blog posts cannot be exported to other platforms and a backup cannot be stored outside Wix.

Workaround: CMS collections and contacts export to CSV, and a site can be duplicated inside your account.

  • Selling and memberships start on Core

Payments, ecommerce, scheduling and memberships start on Core at $29 a month on yearly billing, with a 4% fee on pricing plans on Core.

  • Prices vary by country

The plans page sets prices by location and shows only yearly prices; the final price appears on the purchase page.

Pricing reality

Wix bills per site, with prices set by country. In the US, our scenario costs $17 a month on Light billed yearly ($204 a year) before tax, with Wix branding removed, 2 GB of storage, 4 lead-capture forms and 2 collaborators. A first yearly plan includes a voucher for a free domain for one year; it renews at the domain price. Selling, bookings and memberships need Core ($29), and Business ($39) adds automated sales tax and HIPAA compliance. Monthly billing exists, but its price is not on the plans page. Auto-translation beyond 3,000 free words needs paid word credits.

Exit path

Wix says its sites must run on Wix servers: the site cannot be moved to another host, blog posts cannot be exported and no external backup is offered. CMS collections export to CSV, contacts export to CSV (up to 50,000 at once), and the site history restores older versions. A domain bought elsewhere can stay with its registrar.

Compared with

  • Pick Wix when
You want built-in multilingual, a stated SOC 2 and ISO 27001, and a lower entry price ($17 vs $19 a month billed yearly).
    Pick Squarespace when
You want to sell products or memberships on the entry plan and export your blog to WordPress.
  • Pick Wix when
You want bookings, payments and multilingual in one drag-and-drop builder with a vendor-stated SOC 2.
    Pick WordPress.com when
You want the lowest entry price and a full export of posts and pages to move your site later.
  • Pick Wix when
You want two collaborators, multilingual and business apps without paying for seats or add-ons.
    Pick Webflow when
You want pixel-level design control and a way to export your site’s code.

Choose it if

  • You want bookings, payments, an online store and multilingual pages in one builder.
  • A client or partner asks for SOC 2 Type 2 or ISO 27001.
  • Two people will edit the site on the entry plan.

Look elsewhere if

  • You may want to move the site or its blog to another platform later.
  • You want to sell or run memberships on the entry plan.

Bottom line

From its public pages, Wix is the most complete all-in-one builder here: multilingual, collaborators and a broad compliance file from Light at $17 a month in the US, with selling from Core. The trade-off is lock-in: the site and its blog cannot be exported.
