Unlimited documents for a flat price per sender, with SOC 2 Type II and a HIPAA BAA available from the $10 plan.
SignWell prices by the number of senders, not by envelope: every paid plan sends unlimited documents to unlimited signers, and 3 senders on Business cost $30 a month billed yearly. Each completed PDF gets an audit trail and a seal from an Adobe-trusted (AATL) certificate, on the free plan too. SignWell’s own SOC 2 Type II report and a HIPAA BAA are available from Light without a sales contract. Developers pay per API document with no monthly minimum, after a free monthly allowance, and test mode is unlimited.
- Unlimited documents on every paid planThe pricing FAQ says all paid plans come with unlimited documents and that signers are not counted. Business covers 3 senders for $30 a month billed yearly; each extra sender is $12 a month.Evidence: Pricing page and FAQ (2026-10-15)
- SOC 2 Type II and a HIPAA BAA from $10 a monthThe security page states SignWell’s own SOC 2 Type II (Security, Availability, Confidentiality), with the report on request. The pricing table lists the BAA from Light; the help center says to email support after upgrading.Evidence: Security page, pricing table and help center HIPAA article (2026-10-15)
- Evidence on the free plan tooThe pricing table lists the audit trail and tamper-evident (AATL) documents on every plan, Free included; a tooltip says completed PDFs are sealed with an Adobe-trusted certificate, so any change is detectable.Evidence: Pricing page comparison table (2026-10-15)
- Pay-per-document API with unlimited test modeWith a card on file the first 25 API documents a month are free, then $0.85 each and $0.60 above 200, with no monthly minimum. The docs list 16 webhook events and Ruby, Node, Python and PHP SDKs.Evidence: API pricing page and developer docs (2026-10-15)
- Best for
- US teams that send many documents, want a flat price per sender, and need SOC 2 or a HIPAA BAA without a sales contract.
- Good to know
- No SSO is listed, eIDAS support is stated at the simple-signature level only (AES and QES are not listed), and it offers no choice of storage region (the privacy policy names US processing).

Review
Review from public pages
Written from SignWell's public pages (pricing, security or privacy, and docs) as read on Oct 15, 2026. We did not sign up, and no hands-on run is published yet.
What the public pages show
We read SignWell's home page, pricing page (both billing options, the comparison table, tooltips and FAQ), the API pricing page and its calculator, the API, developer and MCP pages, the security, terms and privacy pages, the API reference (documents, webhooks, bulk send, rate limits) and help-center articles on plans, HIPAA, bulk send, billing and account deletion on Oct 15, 2026; we did not sign up or call the API for this review. Every page showed US dollars.
The pages make the model clear. Pricing is by sender, and paid plans have unlimited documents and signers: Light is $10 a month billed yearly for 1 sender and Business $30 for 3, with $12 and $36 on monthly billing. The free plan sends 3 documents a month with no card. API documents are a separate count, billed per document after a free allowance, and the calculator shows the rates ($0.85, then $0.60 above 200).
A few things need a question. The pages disagree on free API documents: the comparison table shows 25 a month on every plan, Free included; a tooltip says 25 with the API plan added and, without it, 3 on Free, 15 on Light and 25 on Business; a help article says 3 on Free and 25 on all other plans; and the MCP page says 3 on Free. The header promises 20% off for annual billing, while the listed plan prices are about 17% lower (extra Business senders are 20% lower: $12 vs $15). A help article prices an extra Business sender at $10 a month or $96 a year, while the pricing page lists $12 billed yearly and $15 monthly. The price of extra SMS credits is not on the page, and the help center still uses the old plan name "Personal". The pricing page says SMS sends signer verification codes, while the API reference lists email as the only passcode delivery method today.
Strengths
- Unlimited documents at a flat price per sender
Paid plans have no envelope count: Light is $10 a month for 1 sender and Business $30 for 3, billed yearly. Three senders at 30 envelopes a month cost $30 a month, and more volume costs nothing extra.
vs Dropbox Sign: DocuSign Standard allows 100 envelopes per user per year; Dropbox Sign Standard is also unlimited, at $75 a month for 3 users billed yearly.
- SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA BAA on low-cost plans
The pricing table lists the SOC 2 Type II report and the HIPAA BAA from Light ($10 a month billed yearly). The help center says to email support for the BAA after upgrading, with no sales contract.
vs Dropbox Sign: Dropbox Sign’s BAA needs an annual Standard or Premium plan and a minimum contract value that is not published.
- API billed per document, no minimum
With a card on file the first 25 API documents a month are free, then $0.85 each and $0.60 above 200; test mode is unlimited. Custom requesters let a platform send for its customers without a seat for each.
vs Dropbox Sign: BoldSign’s Enterprise API starts at $30 a month for 40 envelopes; Dropbox Sign’s starts at $75 a month billed yearly for 50 requests.
- Audit trail and AATL seal on every plan
The pricing table lists the audit trail and tamper-evident (AATL) documents on Free, Light and Business; completed PDFs are sealed with an Adobe-trusted certificate so later changes can be detected.
- Part 11 controls on a self-serve plan
The security page offers a 21 CFR Part 11 mode on Business ($30 a month billed yearly), with validation documentation, and lists NOM-151 certificates for Mexico through SeguriData.
Things to know
- No SSO listed
No plan in the pricing table, the security page or the help center lists SSO or SAML, and the pages do not say whether Enterprise offers it.
Workaround: Ask sales whether Enterprise (for teams of 50 or more) includes it before you rely on it.
- Simple signatures only under eIDAS
The pages state ESIGN, UETA and eIDAS compliance but list no advanced (AES) or qualified (QES) signatures. Signer checks are passcodes and SMS codes on Business, with no ID document check or KBA.
Workaround: For EU agreements that require AES or QES, use a provider that offers qualified signatures.
- US processing, ISO 27001 through AWS
The privacy policy says personal information is transferred for processing in the United States (a cross-border section also names hosting in Canada and the US), and no choice of storage region is offered. ISO 27001 is named for AWS, not for SignWell; SignWell’s own attestation is SOC 2 Type II.
Workaround: Request the SOC 2 Type II report by email for a security review.
- Free API allowance differs between pages
The comparison table shows 25 free API documents a month on every plan; a tooltip says 3 on Free, 15 on Light and 25 on Business without the API plan, and a help article says 25 on every paid plan. Zapier sends from a template count as API documents.
Workaround: Confirm your plan’s allowance with support before estimating API costs.
Pricing reality
Billing is per account by number of senders, with unlimited documents and signers on paid plans. Light is $10 a month billed yearly for 1 sender, plus $10 per extra sender ($12 each on monthly billing). Business is $30 a month billed yearly for 3 senders, plus $12 per extra sender ($36 and $15 monthly). For 3 senders at 30 envelopes a month, Business costs $30 a month ($360 a year, our arithmetic); Light with 2 extra senders also comes to $30 but has 5 templates per sender and no branding, SMS or passcodes. API documents are billed apart: 25 a month free with a card on file, then $0.85 each and $0.60 above 200, so 100 a month cost $63.75 (our arithmetic). Extra SMS credits and NOM-151 certificates are priced by support; 50+ senders or 500+ API documents a month go through sales.
Exit path
Completed PDFs can be downloaded from the dashboard, every party gets a download link by email, and the API returns the completed PDF or a ZIP with the audit page included by default. Bulk sends export to CSV. No export of the whole account is described, and deleting the account permanently removes all data, so download first. There are no long-term contracts; plans renew monthly or yearly until cancelled.
