Review
Review from public pages
Written from Asana's public pages (pricing, security or privacy, and docs) as read on Oct 15, 2026. We did not sign up, and no hands-on run is published yet.
What the public pages show
We read Asana's pricing page, its FAQ and its trust page on Oct 15, 2026; we did not sign up for this review. The US pricing page lists Personal (free, for one or two people), Starter at $10.99 per user a month billed annually ($13.49 monthly), Advanced at $24.99 ($30.49 monthly), and Enterprise and Enterprise+ through sales. The same page viewed from another region showed a limited-time discount for new customers; the prices here are the US list prices without it.
The FAQ explains how seats are sold: one at a time up to 5 users, then in steps of 5 up to 30, 10 up to 100, 25 up to 500 and 50 above that. The plan table is long and clear about gating: unlimited rules, forms, custom fields, timelines and free guests on Starter; portfolios, goals and approvals on Advanced; SAML, SCIM and view-only licences on Enterprise. Audit logs, organization-wide JSON exports and IP allowlisting are part of a Compliance management add-on on Enterprise and included on Enterprise+.
The trust page lists SOC 2 Type 2, SOC 3 and ISO/IEC 27001, 27017, 27018 and 27701, and data residency in Europe, Australia and Japan. The plan table marks HIPAA as opt-in on Enterprise+ only. The FAQ says Asana does not offer refunds and has no on-premises version.
Strengths
Unlimited automation on the entry plan
Starter lists unlimited rules and the workflow builder.
vs Linear: Jira Standard includes 400 automation steps per user a month; Linear lists triage rules from Business.
Free guests on the entry plan
Unlimited guests on Starter, outside the seat count.
vs Linear: Linear’s guests start on Business.
Broadest certification list
The trust page lists SOC 2 Type 2, SOC 3 and four ISO/IEC standards (27001, 27017, 27018, 27701).
Monthly and annual prices both listed
Every self-serve plan shows its annual and monthly rate.
Things to know
Free plan is for 2 users
Personal allows 2 users; a team needs Starter.
Workaround: Starter has no user seat limit.
Seats come in steps
Between 5 and 30 users, seats are added in steps of 5: 25 people fit exactly, 26 need 30 seats.
Security controls start on Enterprise
SAML and SCIM are on Enterprise; audit logs and data residency are add-ons there or part of Enterprise+, and HIPAA is Enterprise+ only.
No refunds
The FAQ says Asana does not offer refunds; a cancelled plan keeps paid features to the end of the period.
Pricing reality
Asana sells seats per user: Starter $10.99 a month billed annually or $13.49 monthly, Advanced $24.99 or $30.49. Seats are added in steps, so the bill follows the seat count you buy, not the exact number of people. Enterprise and Enterprise+ are priced by sales.
For 25 people on Starter, 25 × $10.99 = $274.75 a month billed annually, or 25 × $13.49 = $337.25 monthly. At 26 people the next step is 30 seats, $329.70 a month on annual rates. Guests are free. AI is included with limits: 5 AI requests per user a month up to 50 per account on Starter, with extra requests at $0.50 prepaid or $0.60 pay as you go. Timesheets and budgets are a separate add-on.
Exit path
Every plan can export project data and reports as CSV or PDF. A complete JSON export of the organization (projects, tasks, comments, custom fields) is part of the Compliance management add-on on Enterprise and included on Enterprise+.
