Managed Elasticsearch with vector, semantic and hybrid search from $0.0282 an hour, with SOC 2, ISO 27001 and a HIPAA BAA on every tier.
Elastic Cloud runs Elasticsearch for you, either as a Hosted deployment you size or as Serverless projects that scale with load. The smallest Hosted deployment, 1 GB in one zone on AWS us-east-1, is $0.0282 an hour on Standard. Vector search is on every level, and managed embeddings, reranking and RAG tools are available without a sales contract. Elastic lists SOC 2, ISO 27001 and HIPAA, with BAAs allowed on every subscription tier.
- AI search without a contractVector search on every level; managed embeddings through the Elastic Inference Service, Elastic Rerank, AI Playground and Agent Builder on Serverless and on higher Hosted levels.Evidence: Hosted and Serverless pricing pages, hybrid search docs (2026-10-15)
- Compliance on every tierThe trust center lists SOC 2, ISO 27001, 27017 and 27018 and HIPAA; the cloud security page says every Elastic Cloud subscription tier allows a HIPAA BAA.Evidence: Trust center and cloud security page (2026-10-15)
- A small deployment for about $211 GB of RAM with 15 GB of storage in one zone is $0.0282 an hour on Standard, $20.59 a month; Kibana at 1 GB shows as free in the calculator.Evidence: Hosted pricing calculator and pricing table (2026-10-15)
- Best for
- Teams that want Elasticsearch, including vector and semantic search, with compliance documents and no sales contract.
- Good to know
- You size Hosted deployments or accept load-based Serverless bills, and SAML SSO on Hosted needs the Enterprise level.

Review
Review from public pages
Written from Elastic Cloud's public pages (pricing, security or privacy, and docs) as read on Oct 15, 2026. We did not sign up, and no hands-on run is published yet.
What the public pages show
We read Elastic's Hosted and Serverless pricing pages, its pricing table and Hosted calculator, the trust center, cloud security page, licensing FAQ and the docs on billing, SAML SSO, regions and snapshots on Oct 15, 2026; we did not sign up for this review. Elastic Cloud comes two ways. Hosted deployments are sized by you and billed per GB of RAM per hour by hardware profile and subscription level (Standard, Gold, Platinum, Enterprise), plus data transfer and snapshot storage. Serverless projects bill virtual compute units for ingest, search and machine learning by the hour, plus storage, and scale on their own.
For our scenario we priced Hosted, because its rates can be multiplied out and Serverless cannot: search compute follows query load, a baseline stays provisioned even when idle, and Elastic's own smallest example (2 GB of data, 8% search utilization) is $24 a month. In the calculator, the smallest Hosted deployment on AWS us-east-1 is General purpose (ARM) with 1 GB of RAM and 15 GB of storage, $0.0282 an hour on Standard; Kibana and Integrations Server at 1 GB show as free. The calculator warns that a single zone risks data loss.
Features depend on how you run it. On Hosted, the Standard card lists vector storage and retrieval, ELSER semantic models start on Platinum, and SAML SSO, Elastic Rerank and AI Playground are on Enterprise. On Serverless, the SSO docs say SAML SSO is included on any tier. The cloud security page says every subscription tier allows a HIPAA BAA.
Strengths
- Lowest listed price at our scenario
A 1 GB General purpose deployment in one zone is $0.0282 an hour on Standard, or $20.59 a month.
vs Typesense Cloud: Typesense Cloud’s 0.5 GB cluster is $21.60 and Meilisearch’s estimator shows $23; Algolia comes to $245.
- AI search on self-serve terms
Vector search on every level; managed embeddings, semantic reranking and RAG tools such as AI Playground and Agent Builder on Serverless and higher Hosted levels.
vs Algolia: Algolia lists NeuralSearch on Elevate, which needs an annual contract.
- Compliance on every tier
The trust center lists SOC 2, ISO 27001, 27017 and 27018, and the cloud security page says every subscription tier allows a HIPAA BAA.
vs Typesense Cloud: Typesense Cloud ties its SOC 2 report and BAA to the Business support plan.
- Open source and portable
Elasticsearch source is available under AGPLv3 as well as SSPL and the Elastic License, and Hosted deployments can snapshot to your own repository.
- Sized or serverless
Choose a Hosted deployment with a fixed hourly rate, or Serverless projects that scale with search and ingest load.
Things to know
- Many settings to price
Hosted bills RAM-hours by hardware profile, zone count and level, data transfer above 100 GB a month, and snapshot storage and requests; Serverless bills compute units that follow load.
Workaround: The pricing page links a calculator and a full price table.
- SSO and some AI features depend on the level
On Hosted, SAML SSO, Elastic Rerank and AI Playground are on Enterprise and ELSER models on Platinum; Serverless includes SAML SSO on any tier.
- The lowest price is one zone
The $20.59 figure is a single zone, which the calculator says risks data loss; two zones are $41.17 a month.
- A trial, not a free plan
Elastic Cloud has a 14-day trial with no card; there is no permanent free plan.
Pricing reality
Hosted bills capacity per GB of RAM per hour by hardware profile and level (General purpose on AWS us-east-1: $0.0282 on Standard, $0.0562 on Enterprise), data transfer out and between nodes above 100 GB a month ($0.05 and $0.016 per GB), and snapshot storage ($0.033 per GB-month plus $0.0018 per 1,000 requests). Serverless bills ingest ($0.14), search ($0.09) and ML ($0.07) VCU-hours plus $0.047 per GB-month, and support above Standard adds 5 to 15%.
For our scenario: 1 GB in one zone at $0.0282 × 730 hours = $20.59 a month, our arithmetic; $41.17 in two zones.
Exit path
Elasticsearch source is available under AGPLv3, SSPL or the Elastic License, so the same engine can run self-managed. The Hosted docs describe registering your own snapshot repository, such as an S3 bucket; on Serverless, Elastic takes the backups and restores go through support.
Compared with
- Pick Elastic Cloud when
- You want ISO 27001, a HIPAA BAA without a support plan, and semantic reranking and RAG tools.
- Pick Typesense Cloud when
- You want SAML SSO and vector search on the smallest cluster, and a bill made of cluster hours and bandwidth only.
- Pick Elastic Cloud when
- You expect many searches for little data and want vector search and SSO without an annual contract.
- Pick Algolia when
- You want nothing to size and a permanent free plan.
Choose it if
- You want managed Elasticsearch with vector, semantic and hybrid search.
- You need SOC 2, ISO 27001 and a HIPAA BAA without an enterprise contract.
- You want to choose between a sized deployment and serverless.
Look elsewhere if
- You want a permanent free plan.
- You want a bill with one or two lines and nothing to size.
Bottom line
From its public pages, Elastic Cloud offers the most AI search and compliance here on self-serve terms and the lowest Hosted price at our scenario. Pricing has more settings than the others, and SSO and some AI features depend on the Hosted level or on using Serverless.
